Review: Last Name by Dr. Rebecca Sharp (Country Love #4)

Rebecca Sharp returns to her Country Love series with a romance that begins with an unplanned wedding in Vegas and then the newlyweds finding out that he's her new boss. Last Name introduces readers to Carrie Bishop, a thirty-one-year-old who's moved to Lake Tahoe for a new job as the activities director of the Lake Tahoe Resort and Casino. Some time away with her friends in Las Vegas is exactly what she needs before she begins this new chapter in her life, and it's a great way of moving on from her last disastrous relationship. This was going to be a time for zero regrets, but when she wakes up to find out that she's married and that her new husband--whose last name she doesn't know--is missing. Well, crossing paths with him again proves to be easy but realizing that her hubby is James Arden, aka her new boss? Not so much.

One of my favorite things about the Country Love series is that it's lighthearted fare with just a smidgen of angst added in, and the amount of said angst Rebecca Sharp serves up is enough to satisfy the angst addict in me. Another favorite thing is how Sharp manages to always bring in her own creative touch to make each book her own. The fact that the four books I've read so far in the series are all absolute standalones makes me a happy camper because that means you can jump in anywhere and not feel lost. Four books in and this series is still my favorite from Sharp, with this fourth book giving readers main characters that you want become invested in and a story that had me entertained from start to finish. Thank goodness what happens in Vegas didn't stay there! Last Name snags five stars out of five stars. ♥

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
