Review: Loud Mouth by Avery Flynn (Ice Knights #3)

The much awaited third Ice Knights book is finally here, and Loud Mouth was worth the slightly extended wait. This was an enemies-to-lovers romance, one that had Ian Petrov, a professional hockey player, and Shelby Blanton, a sports blogger. Ian's life changes when he learns that he has a half-brother and that this person just happens to be his fellow player and best friend. How'd he find out? Through Shelby's blog, and while there's a whole lot of blame that he doesn't mind assigning to those closest to him, it's Shelby herself that Ian lays most of that blame on. It was never her intention for his life to implode the way it did, but she gets why he isn't exactly her biggest fan at the moment. What neither wants is to be stuck together in the same cabin during a freaking snowstorm. Aside from all the snow, there's tension swirling around them. Maybe working through said tension will be a good thing, then they can walk away afterwards. So what happens when they're tasked to stay close for a wee bit longer?

This was a rather lighthearted read with enough angst to keep me happy. It is a romantic comedy read after all, but then both Shelby and Ian are dealing with their respective issues, which is where the angst comes in . It's a fast-paced read, with the main characters going from a rather adversarial sort of relationship to a more lust-driven non-relationship that becomes more later on. I liked the chemistry these two had, and the back and forth between them made for entertaining moments. You can pretty much read this as a standalone, although if you're a stickler like me when it comes to books in a series, especially the kind that are interconnected to some degree, you may want to check out the first two Ice Knights books, Parental Guidance and Awk-Weird, respectively. Loud Mouth gets four stars out of a possible five stars.
