Review: When We Are Old by Anna Bloom (If We Were #2)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.

When We Are Old is the conclusion to Anna Bloom's If We Were duet. Because this continues the story that began in If We Were Young, it is important to note that these books MUST be read in order. Neither one is overly long nor would reading them be a waste of time. Fair warning: There's a high possibility that things mentioned in the rest of this review may inadvertently turn out to be spoiler-like, so please feel free to skip reading this if you want to play it safe. There'll be no hard feelings! I know not everyone enjoys coming across spoilers, though some don't mind.

Ronnie Childs and Matthew Carling have finally crossed a line they never thought they would, and there's no going back. Neither one thought they would ever be able to get to this point, but now that they're here, will the sacrifice be worth it? How can Matthew protect his children from what is guaranteed to be a custody fight that could leave all of them with wounds that could take years to heal from? They knew that life together would come with no guarantees, but will they be able stand together and withstand everything that fate still has to throw their way?

You know how they say that it's the things that you have to fight for that are the most rewarding? In the case of Ronnie and Matthew, goodness, but how these two had to endure and hurdle through a heck of a lot, both as a couple and as individuals. Both are inspiring, and I enjoyed seeing how much they had grown throughout the duet. These two books were my introduction to Anna Bloom's writing, and I'm glad I discovered If We Were Young and When We Are Old. I'm giving this second novel four stars out of five stars and now have this author on my radar. ♥
