Review: His Pawn by Emily Snow

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Candi Kane PR in exchange for an honest review.

His Pawn is the brand-new standalone penned by Emily Snow and it's my first read from the bestselling author as well. This was one heck of an introduction to her writing! It had a deliciously dirty talking senator in thirty-three-year-old Graham Delaney and a desperate college senior in twenty-two-year-old Elle Courtney. When Elle gets into an argument with her senator father and her mother, she's cut off from any financial assistance from them. This leaves her scrambling to find a way to pay for her final semester in college. Graham makes her an offer that would make it difficult for her to refuse. He wants her at the ready for the entire semester--ready for him to do whatever he wants to her body. In return, he pays her tuition. He's got revenge on his mind, but when he begins to spend time with Elle, his mind can't think of much else other than her. When he came up with his indecent proposal, he used her situation to his advantage; when all is said and done, Graham may end up winning the battle with her father but losing the war if it costs him the girl he's falling for and his own heart.

Who doesn't like having a dirty talking guy beneath all the shine and veneer that he presents to the rest of the world? Graham is one of those men that commands everyone's attention, and he's used to getting what he wants using whatever means necessary. He clearly underestimated Elle. She was above and beyond some naive and innocent lass who would simply sit back and allow some alpha male to take whatever he wanted. I loved that there was this power imbalance in the beginning when it came to these two main characters, and then as the story progressed, you could see that power shifting around. Graham and Elle were insanely hot together, and as their affair slash arrangement evolved into a relationship that neither of them had planned for, the more invested I became in them getting to their happy ending. Emily Snow certainly did a great job creating a love story out of what some may consider taboo due to the age difference and Graham being an elected official. At its very core, His Pawn was a contemporary romance novel that had heart AND heat, one I so enjoyed. 4.5 stars. ♥
