Review: Knot My Type by Evie Mitchell (All Access #1)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.

Evie Mitchell is a new-to-me author, and her new series starter was definitely a fantastic way to be introduced to her writing. Knot My Type is the first in Mitchell's All Access series, and it brings together a sexologist with a successful podcast focused on accessibility and a carpenter who also happens to be a rigger with an expertise in rope play. When Frankie Kenton's podcast, All Access, receives a listener letter regarding accessible rope play, she decides it would be best to talk to someone who actually knows something about rope play. Enter Jay Wood, a guy who knows his way around some rope, and as a bonus, he even teaches a class on accessible rope play at Capricorn Cove's lone kink club, The A-List. When Frankie and Jay meet, it's clear that the attraction is mutual, but Jay isn't into relationships, and Frankie isn't into flings. Becoming and remaining friends is easier said and done, especially with chemistry that has them tied up in knots.

This book was everything I didn't know I needed! I loved getting to know both Frankie (whose initials are AWESOME, but you'll have to read the book to find out what they are) and Jay, as well as Frankie's circle of close-knit friends, who I'm guessing will get their stories told as the series moves forward. Multi-layered main characters are my favorite. After all, who wants to read about characters without any depth to them? And depth is exactly what Evie Mitchell offers up in this All Access series starter, both in terms of story and characters. There wasn't any sort of contrived drama-rama to try and gain the reader's sympahthy. Frankie may have been wheelchair-bound, but she was fiercely independent and able-minded, refusing to let anything or anyone limit her. I wanted to give Jay a hug because, man, he deserved it. I just fell in love with these two right as they were falling in love with each other and rightly so! I'm giving five stars to Knot My Type.
