Review: Demons by J.L. Drake (Devil's Reach #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Enticing Journey Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

I knew this was going to end in a cliffhanger. I. KNEW. And yet here I sit, still trying to come to grips over the fact that Demons, the second novel in J.L. Drake's Devil's Reach motorcycle club romantic suspense series, has left me hanging. And frustrated. And anxious to get the third and final book in the trilogy, which doesn't have a title nor publication date as of yet. Argh! I'm in the state that I'm in because the first novel hooked me, and this second one reeled me in and has me on ice as I wait for the author to have mercy on me--along with a whole lot of other readers and bloggers--and have third book within reach (see what I did there?). The series is THAT good, fellow book lovers. Also, all my blabbering in this first paragraph should clue you in that the books MUST be read in order. If you're impatient or hate cliffhangers, I'm suggesting you wait until the Devi's Reach trilogy is actually complete to hedge your bets. But then books one and two are readily available, and they truly are spectacular as the host of glowing reviews on Goodreads will tell you, so feel free to not listen to me and read and then wait along with me.

This second novel picks up immediately after the events in the first one. This is where I'm going to repeat myself: these books ARE connected to one another and they CANNOT be read out of order. If you haven't read the first book, then obviously, you have no idea what happened there and how it lead to the escalation of events in this second book. I'm also not going to give out any details, and not just because I'm the kind of person that likes to torture others by saying how fantastic a book is but not mentioning much of anything regarding the plot. That being said, J.L. Drake made the wait between the two novels a more than worthwhile one (but yeah, I still hate waiting). Trigger isn't your typical alpha hero and Tess more than gives him a run for his money. There's betrayal and suspense, and a whole lot of tension, sexual and otherwise in Demons. Oh, and have I mentioned how awesome Drake's writing is? This is what an MC romance should feel like--with that tenuous balance between grit and passion, and absolutely no fucks given anywhere in between. I dare you to say no Trigger and Tess. Five stars. ♥
