Review: Birth of a Baby Daddy by Piper Rayne (The Baileys #3)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the authors via Wildfire Marketing Solutions.

Fair warning: This review may contain potential spoilers for those of you who have yet to read the previous books in the Baileys series. We good? Okay, moving on... Remember that evil cliffhanger that Piper Rayne left for fans and readers at the end of Advice From a Jilted Bride, the one involving a woman who shows up during a Bailey family celebration to make an announcement that is bound to change the lives of the Baileys as a whole and one in particular. Harley Miller has arrived in the small Alaskan town of Lake Starlight with her eighteen-month-old daughter Calista in tow. She needs answers and information from Calista's father. She doesn't need his money or whatever else he may have to offer. Once she gets what she needs, she'll happily fly back to Seattle and get on with the life she has with Calista. What Harley didn't expect was for her baby daddy and his entire family to fall in love with little Calista...or for her to fall in love with the town...or for her to fall in love with her daughter's father. But can a woman like her who keeps it all in and a man like him who tends to run actually create a family that will last?

You may have noticed that I made no mention of who Calista's father is, and there's a reason for that...a reason I clearly won't be divulging. Trust me, you'll be glad I didn't say anything once you read the book. There was a lot about this book that went in a direction that I wasn't expecting, but it did give me the one thing that I did expect and that was a fabulously-written romantic comedy with a sprinkling of angst and a whole lot of those good feels that Piper Rayne's books are guaranteed to bring you. I seriously love the Baileys (shout-out to G'Ma D!) and Harley and Calista were the perfect additions to this fam-bam. I liked Harley's fierce independence, but I tip my hat to her, as well, for not being resistant to help being offered to her either. Just like the other books in the series, this could be read as a standalone, but I'm going to highly recommend you read everything in order anyway because this is series has a great cast of characters that will be recurring throughout. I may be picky when it comes to the whole secret baby trope but the authors did a wonderful job with Birth of a Baby Daddy. I'm giving this five stars. ♥
