Review: Brutal Blueblood by Becker Gray (Hellfire Club #3)

Brutal Blueblood not only has my favorite cover of the Hellfire Club series, but it also happens to be my favorite story so far. The writing duo of Becker Gray is back with the third Hellfire Club novel, and this time around, we've got the story of Owen Montgomery and Tanith Bradford, aka Pembroke Prep's Ice King and Scholarship Girl. For three years, Tanith has nursed a major crush on Owen, yet even though they belong to the same circle of friends, he hasn't shown much interest in her. So when he finally kisses her while they're all vacationing in Ibiza the summer before their senior year, Tanith thinks their time has come. Only Owen had no idea who she was or that they both attended the same school. Then and there, she decides to focus on herself and her dreams, refusing to waste any more time on her feelings for him. The thing is, now that Owen shared that kiss with Tanith and knows who she is, he wants nothing more than to be with her and only her.

A piece of advice before you read this book: Make sure to read in a room with air conditioning because this is one heck of a hot read! Dare I say that Becker Gray upped both the sweet and the steam with this one. Think Pride and Prejudice with a lot more sex mixed in with the romance. Owen and Tanith were a couple after my own heart. I adored Tanith! She was independent and tenacious, going after what she wanted with dedication and fortitude. On the other hand, Owen had some growing up to do, and I liked that the desire to be with Tanith pushed him to be a better version of himself. I also happen to be a fan of his having to earn her heart. I mean, hello, not knowing who she was even though they'd gone to the same school and had mutual friends between them?! He made up for it, and while these two didn't necessarily have an easy journey, by the end, they were quite on their way to a happy future together. I'm giving Brutal Blueblood 4.5 stars.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
