Review: Hot Heir by Pippa Grant (The Royals #3)

If ever I need a good laugh, all I have to do is pick up a novel penned by Pippa Grant. I've been feeling under the weather this week, and reading Grant's Hot Heir in time for the book's cover reveal was exactly what I needed. As is the case with most of her novels, this is loosely tied with a number of her previous releases. That being said, Viktor (whose last name I do believe was never mentioned) and Peach Maloney's story can absolutely be read on its own. So, if you happen to be new to this author's writing or haven't had time to read any or all of the previous interconnected books, you'll totally be fine starting here.

Viktor takes his duty as a royal bodyguard seriously, but when an unexpected kind of royal duty calls him back to Amoria. With the passing of its king who left no heir--the same king who forcibly took the throne from Viktor's grandfather decades ago--Viktor is called upon by parliament to take his rightful place as its new monarch. The one caveat? He must be married. As desperate as he may be, there's simply no way he could ever agree to marry Peach Maloney. They can barely stand each other. However, she's just as, if not more, desperate, needing a husband so she can adopt her half-sister. Will these two be able to convince everyone their fake royal romance is real? Maybe even...themselves?

I laughed, and more importantly, I loved. Viktor and Peach were the most unlikely of couples, which is probably why I was cheering them on towards a happily-ever-after with even more enthusiasm. All that back and forth and button-pushing they had going on was obviously an odd mix of small-town, royal foreplay. Pippa Grant offered up a romance that I could simply lose myself in, and I appreciated it more than words could say. In the three hours it took me to finish, I'd forgotten I wasn't feeling well. Hot Heir gets 4.5 stars.
