Discovering authors who are either new-to-me or are releasing their debut novel is always an adventure for me, and it can be hit or miss since there are never any guarantees that I'm going to click with their writing. R.G. Angel is a new-to-me author, and Lovable is my introduction to her storytelling, which I'm happy to report left me a happy camper. This is the story of Alessandra Riley and Nathan Prescott; she's a thirty-year-old lawyer who doesn't see herself as particularly "lovable", while he's a thirty-one-year-old guy who may turn out to be too good to be true.

Ale Riley has the kind of life many would envy--great friends who are more like family and a career that affords her to live comfortably. However, she wouldn't mind having what her best friends have: true love and a family of their own. She hasn't had the best luck in love, and it's gotten to the point where she wonders if there could be something about her that makes her unworthy of a happily-ever-after of her own. And then she meets Nate Prescott, and the architect makes her feel extraordinary and loved...until she stumbles upon a secret he's hidden.

I absolutely loved the original spin that R.G. Angel brought to this story, thereby making it her own. Ale and Nate were meant to be, but Ale has her insecurities and doubts, and sometimes, even the truest kind of love needs to be tested in order for both parties to realize that it's for keeps. There was quite a bit of angst, most of it due to Ale's past and everything she uncovers later on, but this is balanced out with some lighthearted and touching moments as well. Overall, Lovable was, indeed, a lovable story about resilience, forgiveness, and family. Four stars. ♥
