Review: My Little Secret by Ember Leigh (Breaking #2.5)

You know how there are all those books out there about a girl falling for her brother's best friend? Well, Ember Leigh's given her readers something different by making the latest release in her Breaking series one about a young woman who falls for her brother's greatest rival. My Little Secret begins innocently enough with Sadie--whose last name I don't recall being mentioned--and her crush on Hawk Romano, one of the top mixed martial arts fighters around. It also so happens that Hawk happens to be the one fighter that her brother Stanford--aka Brute--has had an ongoing rivalry with and now they're set to meet in the octagon to settle the debate on who's the better fighter. One hot hook-up leads to both Hawk and Sadie being hooked on each other but how long can Sadie keep her true identity secret from the man she seems to be falling for and how will it affect both Hawk and Brute?
Okay, this novella was turning out to be my favorite read among the three books in the series. It was fun and lighthearted--yes, even with the whole secret keeping and professional rivalry going on--and it was fast-paced and didn't have unnecessary drama thrown into the mix. Both Hawk and Sadie were easy enough to like and their moments together were pretty hot with a chemistry that didn't feel forced. I was looking forward to seeing how everything would be resolved...and well, that's where I had an issue: the resolution. Let's just say that integrity is a big deal to me, and while I get that Hawk felt what he did was best, I kinda lost respect for him. Sadie isn't stupid either and it came off like she was merely trying to convince herself that what she knew to be true wasn't. Either way, that ending had me taking my rating down a couple of notches, leaving My Little Secret with 3.5 stars instead. ♥
