Review: Dirty Sexy Games by Laurelin Paige (Dirty Games #2)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Candi Kane PR.

Laurelin Paige's Dirty Games series reaches its conclusion with Dirty Sexy Games, the third release and the second full-length novel. This picks up immediately after the events of Dirty Sexy Player and we find Elizabeth Dyson and Weston King, for all intents and purposes, as husband and wife. The wedding may be over but they're going to have to convince Elizabeth's cousin and the interim CEO of Dyson Media that this isn't a sham of a marriage. Maybe it won't be as difficult as they first believed. After all, Elizabeth and Weston have proven to each other just how compatible they are in the bedroom and they've got their chemistry down pat. And it's beginning to look like they won't have to fake being in love with one another... But then Weston is hit with news that he never saw coming and the revelation is forcing him to weigh his priorities. He's also hesitant to share with his new wife what he's just learned. Elizabeth knows Weston is keeping something from her, and when the truth is finally revealed and choices will ultimately have to be made, will they put up a united front or be forced to go their separate ways?

Can I just say that I loved how different Elizabeth and Weston were from Sabrina Lind and Donovan Kincaid whose story unfolded in the original Dirty series? I'm not saying that one couple is better than the other, rather, I appreciated that they were wholly different and not carbon copies with just a couple of differences thrown in. Elizabeth and Weston had their own issues to deal with, and I desperately wanted to see how they would somehow break free from the mold that they found themselves in courtesy of the circumstances that began with their fathers. The tidbit that Weston finds out--which I'm not going to reveal here if you've yet to read this series--presented an array of possibilities for these two, and it allowed them to also develop further as characters, going beyond the idea of two people who are forced together out of convenience and then fall in love. I was quite close to giving this book five stars, but ultimately hesitated because of a few moments in the book that I felt iffy about. Ultimately, this series had a good beginning and an even better ending, so I'm awarding Dirty Sexy Games 4.5 stars. ♥
