Review: Consumed by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott (Lost in Oblivion #3.5)
Note: This ebook was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review.
Simon Kagan is the voice of Oblivion. Yes, he can play the guitar and he can write songs, but without the ability to sing, he feels lost and is consumed by feelings of guilt at what his recklessness has cost his band mates. Everyone has stood by him, but it is Margo Reece who volunteers her time, vowing to take care of him and give him whatever he needs to make sure he comes out on the other side better and prepared for what'll be waiting for him. But will Margo still want to be with Simon when he's no longer the same man?
Consumed is the seventh installment overall and the fourth novella in the Lost in Oblivion series from bestselling authors Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott. The story picks up right after the cliffhanger of an ending in Destroyed and we find Oblivion lead singer Simon Kagan dealing with the aftermath of his attempt to take back the spotlight while he was supposed to be on vocal rest. Margo Reece remains by his side and is willing to go above and beyond to help Simon overcome his dire circumstances and see that all is not lost.
I won't go into too much detail about what happens here but I will say that you'll need to read Destroyed before heading into this novella because it's a direct sequel. Heck, just go ahead and read all the books because, well, they're highly addictive. What I love about these books is that they never go exactly the way you think they will and that keeps the series fresh and intriguing. Simon and Margo's relationship does reach a milestone here and while their couplehood appears to flourish, they still have individual struggles.
There's a fair bit of drama and angst that's in this book, but then when you realize what Simon is going through, you'll see why. I couldn't help but feel for the guy because, aside from what he was dealing with health-wise, he had a lot of thoughts in his head and knew that was happening to him was also affecting the rest of Oblivion as well as those who worked with them. Margo's care for Simon was endearing and proved that she was committed to him. I shall sit and wait for Shattered's release and give Consumed five stars. ♥
