Review: Hard Charger by Meghan March (Flash Bang #2)
Note: This ARC was provided by RockStar Lit PR in exchange for an honest review.
Lia McLaren is a survivor, having endured everything she was put through by a group of four psychotic individuals who used and abused her until she was rescued by the ex-Marines living on the Castle Creek Whitetail Ranch. Over the past eight months, she's regained her strength and confidence, but she can't help but wonder if the man who kept her calm and made her feel safe has chosen not to pursue her because Cam sees her as nothing more than a broken woman who needs to be treated like she was fragile.
Cam has had feelings for Lia for months but he hasn't made a move. The men living with him on the ranch know he wants her, but Cam wants to be careful with her, especially after witnessing how she was kept like an animal by the men who abducted and tortured her. He's left with no other choice but to make his feelings known when his best friend Travis makes it clear that he wants Lia as well. The last thing Cam wants to do is to fight Travis for Lia but how he feel when she admits that she wants to be with both men?
Hard Charger is a novella and the second release in the Meghan March-penned Flash Bang series. The first part of this story overlap the events in the first book, Flash Bang, and readers get a clearer idea of what Lia had to endure when she was a prisoner of the demented men who kidnapped her. Cam has always been the one man on the ranch who Lia was most comfortable with but she's also developed feelings for Cam's best friend, Travis, but she isn't sure how receptive both men will be to her desire to be with them.
Reading book one, I had a feeling that Cam and Lia would get their own story told and having Travis join them certainly adds an interesting mix to their story, especially since Lia is courageous enough to want to be with two men after what she suffered. I think the emotions between Cam and Lia run a bit deeper because of Lia's experience and rescue but seeing a ménage relationship among Ro Callahan, Graham Buchanan, and Zach Sawyer piqued her interest and had her wanting to be with two of her own men too.
The introduction of a new character in this book had me counting how many men were left and now they're all able to be paired off. It'll be interesting to see if the ménage theme continues for the rest of the series, which is something you won't hear me complaining about, but I'd also love to read Jonah and Allison's love story as well. Hard Charger answered my questions as to what happened to Lia and what the future holds for her and Cam and now with the addition of Travis. This second in a series gets 4.5 stars. ♥
