Review: Love Locked by Tess Highcroft
Note: This ebook was provided by Patchwork Press Cooperative via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Jocelyn and Lucas meet when she accidentally locks her bicycle with his, causing him to be late for a date with his girlfriend. It takes that one meeting for Joss to have herself seriously infatuated with Lucas, fantasizing about him regularly even though she's never forgotten that he's in a relationship with someone. Is what she's feeling mere lust or could it possibly be love...or maybe a combination of both?
Love Locked is a really quick read by Tess Highcroft and is about twenty-somethings Jocelyn and Lucas. They initially meet when their bicycles are locked together, which has Lucas being understandable disgruntled and Joss embarrassed but still very aware of how hot he is. He may have had a girlfriend but that doesn't stop Joss from fantasizing about him or them engaging in a rather lukewarm sexting session.
The story would be funny if not for lead female character Joss's lack of likability. The girl all but drooled over Lucas and I felt it was a bit too much, making me believe that this more of a case of lust over love. She certainly had no qualms about finding sexual relief with other guys. I wanted an acceptable amount of remorse from her and there wasn't any. Lucas, at the very least, had a guilty, albeit delayed, conscience.
This could have been a far better read had there been more story and character development, and while I can relate to noticing certain patterns when it comes to the time displayed on a clock, it didn't really have much of a purpose in the story. It is a very fast read so you could check it out on your own and see if it may click with you. I wish the author luck with her future endeavors but I have to give Love Locked two stars. ♥
