Review: Dirty Little Promise by Kendall Ryan (Forbidden Desires #2)

After the cliffhanger we were left with in Dirty Little Secret, we--along with Emma Bell, of course--finally get some much needed answers in the sequel, Dirty Little Promise, the second full-length novel in Kendall Ryan's Forbidden Desires. Emma stumbled across information regarding Gavin Kingsley's past, specifically the one involving his former girlfriend--his very much dead former girlfriend. The fact that Emma could pass off as Gavin's late girlfriend's doppelganger simply added to her confusion. She turns to Gavin's younger brother, Cooper, a man whose own affection for Emma isn't all that much of a secret. With everything between them at an impasse, Gavin is going to have to decide whether or not he's prepared to share a painful part of his past with the woman he's falling for and Emma is going to have to finally choose which Kingsley brother she decides to give her own heart to.

Two things: I'm keeping this review spoiler-free because if I start blurting out the delicious details encased in this sequel, you may end up wanting to fling something my way, and I'm going to remind you that you need to read Dirty Little Secret and Dirty Little Promise in order. These are the only two novels in the series that center on Emma and Gavin. If you've checked out Goodreads, you may (or not, depending on how much you check out the first few reviews posted per title) have noticed a listing of who gets which story in the series, and there's already a pretty obvious clue as to who Emma chooses, not that there was really much doubt as to who it would be. This was a good romance about two people who learn to move forward with their lives--Emma as she embraces a different side of herself and Gavin as he welcomes a second chance at love and happiness. Four stars for Dirty Little Promise. ♥

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
