Review: Wicked Envy by Sawyer Bennett (Wicked Horse: Vegas #3)

Vegas may be the place where what happens stays there, but over at the Wicked Horse, there are no such guarantees, especially not when an encounter among three best friends stirs up unexpected feelings and realizations. Thirty-nine-year-old Dane Hawthorne is a man who has more than made a name for himself via Caterva, and the best thing about it is that he gets to share it with his two best friends and business partners, Avril Carrigan and Andrew Collings, both twenty-seven. Having all met in college, they've fostered the kind of friendship that would rival the closeness shared by families. Dane, Avril, and Andrew know everything about each other and never fail to give one another support whenever needed. So, when Dane expresses his concern over Andrew's lackluster sex life and suggests that Andrew go to the Wicked Horse with him, Avril does her bit of encouraging as well, going as far as wanting to check it out too. When the debauchery leads to them having a threesome, it leaves them hot, but there's no denying that they're bothered as well, especially once envy AND love enter the picture...

Okay, anyone who's familiar with my reviews knows I need a bit more convincing when it comes to three-sided relationships in the books I read. More often than not, I feel as if I'm simply supposed to believe that all three parties are equally in love with one another, even if their actions speak otherwise. However, in the case of Sawyer Bennett's third release in her Wicked Horse: Vegas series, she managed to the near impossible: she's written a story involving three people that I actually was fully on-board with. I can't tell you exactly WHY, though, because hello, spoilerville, but suffice it to say that she surprised me with the direction she took all three of the main characters and it was a direction that I more than appreciated because of its novelty and with the way she perfectly balanced love, sex, and friendship without me feeling like one among the three was being treated like the proverbial third wheel. This was a very hot read with a whole lot of heart to it and just enough angst to keep an angst addict like me quite satisfied. Is it any wonder why giving Wicked Envy five out of five stars is a no-brainer? ♥
