Review: Crave: Part Two by E.K. Blair (Crave #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

The second part of the Crave duet picks up where the first one left off. After not remembering the events of the night before, Adaline gets more than a good idea of what occurred by simply looking at what's left in the room that she wakes up in. Shattered, she decides to distance herself from everyone and anyone who was ever close to her, especially her boyfriend Kason. With nary an explanation as to her change in behavior, Kason is at a loss. Try as he might, Adaline simply doesn't want to break them the walls that she's surrounded herself with and leaves the life she once had behind. This pushes Kason further into the addiction that he strove to keep under control while he was with his girl. Now that she's gone, his addiction takes over. It takes years before they see each other again. She's battled her demons, he's still battling his. Is Adaline strong enough to fight by Kason side this time around?

Okay, I know I'm a self-confessed angst addict, but I also know that too much of a good thing is not good at all. This sequel had angst and a lot of it, but then with a story like Kason and Adaline's, it was bound to be fraught with drama. I wasn't a fan of Adaline's, not with how she handled everything that was thrown her way. I get it--she was young, but she wasn't a child. She HAD a support system, and it wasn't a flimsy one either. Rather than turn to them, she chose to run. In the process, the tether that was keeping Kason's addiction at bay unraveled, and while Adaline isn't Kason's keeper, she knew very well the role she played in his life. I felt the poor guy's heartache and hopelessness, and if I'm being honest here, my rating is mostly because of him and his part of the story. Just like the first part, this second one had me on the fence. I know I'm in the minority, but I give Crave: Part Two 3.5 stars. ♥
