Review: The Night We Met by Beth Rinyu

I adore Beth Rinyu's writing! It has that extra touch of something special that makes her books stand out without being obnoxious or overly obvious about. Her latest novel, The Night We Met, had a different feel from the moment I read the blurb, maybe because it sounded...lighter...compared to her previous books that I've read. So, I was rather curious and excited to see how everything would play out between main characters Emme and Lukas.

Twenty-seven-year-old Emmeline Flynn was a woman who used to believe in love and forever-afters, but that was before her boyfriend and her best friend cheated on her. Nowadays, Emme is all about one-night stands, since that leaves no room for expectations and there are absolutely NO repeats. Well, that is until she finds out that one of her one-night stands happens to hold the future of her family's business in his hands. With a plan devised by her older sister, Emme sets her sights on Lukas Reiner. This is meant to be nothing more than business...until "nothing" turns into "something", and this time around Emme may have very well set herself up for her greatest heartbreak.

From the moment this whole "plan" came into play, I already knew it was going to go the way Emme (or her not-so-wise older sister) thought it would. I mean, come on?! When do plans like this ever work out? And of course, that's what we wait for as readers--to see how Emme's carefully laid out plan, plus her heavily erected walls, crumble piece by piece as she and Lukas spend more and more time together. I loved the chemistry between these two and how they built upon their initial attraction as it evolved into far more than, I think, either of them though possible. As always, Beth Rinyu has written a love story that is stamped with her own touch, giving readers a romance unlike any other that they may have read before. You know when it's a Rinyu romance because of all the feels and then some. Trust me, if you think you've got The Night We Met figured out, think again! It gets five stars. ♥
