Review: Southern Secrets by Natasha Madison (Southern #7)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Wildfire Marketing Solutions.

I liked the original generation in the series, but this second generation gave them a run for their money, and so far, I'm loving how they've nudged ahead. Southern Secrets is the seventh novel in Natasha Madison's Southern series. This is Amelia McIntyre and Asher Normand's story, Amelia being the daughter of Jacob and Kallie McIntyre (Southern Chance, book one in the Southern series) and a bar owner, and Asher being the ranch supervisor who's only been around for a handful of months but is considered family even though he doesn't deem himself worthy. He's never been one to stay, not when he spent years in foster care and not having a place to call home. When danger comes their way, Asher swears to do anything in his power to make sure those who have come to mean so much--especially Amelia--are safe, but could the secret he keeps be what destroys them?

Ah, the secrets people keep, and if it's one thing that the characters in this series have been prone to do is exactly that--keep secrets from one another. In the case of Asher, well, I won't get into specifics because I don't want to spoil the read for anyone, but I understood why he kept it to himself for as long as he did. It was also easy to see why Amelia would have reacted the way she did, but as always, everything is resolved for us to get that guaranteed happily-ever-after. That doesn't mean that the HEA came easily. If anything, these two earned it and the resolution itself was one that I felt was a long time coming and one that was apt for the series. Slowly but surely, the Southern series has become one of my favorites from 2020 going into 2021, and with one more book to go, I don't know if I'm actually ready to say goodbye. Sigh. Southern Secrets receives five stars.
