Review: Knitted Hearts by Amber Kelly (Poplar Falls #6)

Knitted Hearts is the sixth and final book in Amber Kelly's small-town romance series, Poplar Falls, which has turned out to be a really fun and heartwarming ride. Save for Merry Hearts, the holiday novella which I have yet to read but have just borrowed via Kindle Unlimited, I've enjoyed my time in the this close-knit Colorado town. The last story centers on two friends going through their respective divorces who fall in love with each other. You don't necessarily need to read any of the previous books in order to fully enjoy or understand this new one, but if you love small-town romance, this series is a good one.

Sonia Pickens didn't see herself divorced in her mid-twenties, but she knew staying married to her ex-husband wasn't worth the heartache. Her closest friends may all be settling down, but after her failed marriage, Sonia isn't necessarily looking to date anyone. But then Foster Tomlin is dropping hints that he's interest in her. They've known each other for years, but there was never anything romantic between them, highlighted by the fact they married other people. Now, both of them are in the process of officially ending their respective marriages. Sonia may not have planned to fall in love soon after her ex left, but Foster could be her true happily-ever-after if she's ready to risk her heart.

This was such a great way to wrap up the Poplar Falls series! I liked the easygoing nature that Foster had, and how everything between him and Sonia wasn't fraught with overthinking or pussyfooting. These two already knew each other but weren't exactly super close buddies, tied more because of mutual friends than actually having a friendship themselves, so I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow and progress. I shed a tear close to the end, but all in all, Knitted Hearts was a sweet five-star lighthearted read.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
