Review: Fury by Tracy Lorraine (Rosewood High #6)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.

Fury is the sixth novel and eighth overall release in Tracy Lorraine's Rosewood High series, and it's a step-sibling romance with a heavy dose of enemies-to-lovers to it. Before diving into this full-length book, I highly recommend you check out the prequel novella, Faze, which lays the groundwork for the complicated story of Ashton Fury and his stepsister, Ruby (whose last name I do not recall seeing in either the novella or the novel, but if you know what it is, please do feel free to drop me a line via the comments section!

Ashton Fury's name befits him. He's filled with fury and it's directed at three people: his father, his stepmother, and his stepsister. Of the three, however, it's the last one, Ruby, whom Ash has set his sights on. His hatred of her knows no bounds, but who says he can't have his bit of fun bringing her to her knees? He has nothing to lose, not when he's already lost the one person who meant the most to him--his mother. But as the lines become blurred, it looks like his fury is at war with something absolutely more complicated, and threaten to not only leave Ruby's heart in ashes, but his fragile one, too.

It would be so easy to hate someone like Ash, especially with his treatment of Ruby, but there's no denying that he's a boy who's been broken by what life has thrown his way. Ruby truly was the light to his dark, even as some of that dark felt like a cloud hovering over her light. I liked seeing these two find their way to a place where they had firmer footing--not as step-siblings or as troubled teens, but as young people simply wanting some balance of love, family, home, friendship, and their dreams in their lives. There was angst and romance, and all of it wrapped in words penned unsurprisingly well by Tracy Lorraine once again. Fury gets 4.5 stars, and I am looking forward to see what is up next!
