Review: By Mistake by Sigal Ehrlich (Poison & Wine #1)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Grey's Promotions.

Sigal Ehrlich is a new-to-me author, and I couldn't have chosen a more delightful introduction to her writing than By Mistake, the first in her Poison & Wine series. Readers meet the main characters, Anna Nielsen and Liam Brody, just as they have their own "meeting" via a mis-sent email. Anna is a fitness instructor with hopes of opening her own studio, and Liam is a doctor with dreams of being accepted into Doctors Without Borders. Both of them believe in love and happily-ever-afters, but neither one of them is actively looking for it. They're both busy living their lives and enjoying the time they spend with their respective close-knit circle of friends and families. "Meeting" through an email meant for someone else and stoking that connection seems harmless, no matter how strong said connection may be. So what happens when they actually meet in person?

This book was a story about how love doesn't follow any sort of timeline. More often than not, it hits you when you least expect it. Anna and Liam had plans--plans that neither of them factored falling in love into. I really liked how these two "meet" and how they forge a flirty friendship through emails. I'm not going to go into detail, but I know from both first-hand experience and bearing actual witness involving others that relationships do blossom online, whether it be platonic or romantic. Anna was a female main character I wouldn't mind having as a friend, what with her personal convictions and being open-hearted. Liam was someone that was also easily likable, although I confess that there were a couple of times, I seriously wanted to shake some sense into him. But all's well that ends well, and I look forward to more from this new series. By Mistake gets 4.5 stars.
