Review: Wrecked with You by J. Kenner (Stark Security #4)

Wrecked with You is the fourth full-length novel, but fifth book overall, in the Stark Security series from the author that created the Stark book universe we can never seem to get enough, J. Kenner. This romantic suspense read is a story about revenge and how two ops specialists with a tendency of being lone wolves learn to work together, not just with each other but with those who can't wait to welcome them to the Stark Security fold. The question is, will the secrets between Antonio Santos and Emma Tucker put their mission and any hope of a something more between them at risk?

I love how J. Kenner keeps this fine balance between the two major elements of her books in this series. With as many books as I've read in all of my years of reading, sometimes, romance can trump suspense and vice-versa. Fortunately, Kenner is a proven master when it comes to this sub-genre. There's a different sort of chemistry between Tony and Emma. The attraction is there, but it wasn't this overwhelming sort of thing, if that makes any sense. The connection was a special one, especially since trust wasn't just necessary between them as partners in bed but also on the field.

The books in this series aren't overly long, but just like those before it, this newest novel shows that you don't need to be hundreds upon hundreds of pages long in order to give readers a story worthy of sinking your proverbial teeth into. There are a couple of twists in the story, and my suspicions as to the ties that bound Tony and Emma were proven correct. And still the author did a commendable job with the revelations, as well as leaving me rightly curious as to what may await readers in the next book. Just like the other series under the Stark umbrella, Stark Security is becoming quite addictive. I'm giving Wrecked with You 4.5 stars. 🖤

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
