Review: A Love Song for Rebels by Piper Lawson (Rivals #2)

A Love Song for Rebels continues the story of star-crossed young lovers Annie Jamieson and Tyler Adams. A quick reminder: You MUST read A Love Song for Liars prior to reading A Love Song for Rebels. The Rivals trilogy has a continuing story line involving the same main characters, so in order to not feel lost, start the series from the beginning. Also, books one and two have cliffhanger endings, so if you're the type that doesn't like to be left hanging, you may want to wait until the release of the third and final novel, A Love Song for Dreamers, which is slated for release on about a month for now, so the wait shouldn't be too long, unless you're impatient (like me).

Annie Jamieson is ready to map out her own destiny, free from the expectations of others and the protectiveness of her rock star father. It's time she focus on herself and what makes her happy, hoping that at the same time, her broken heart will heal. Fate, however, intervenes when she comes across none other than Tyler Adams, her former best friend and the boy who claimed her heart, only to shatter it two years ago. Even in a school like Vanier, avoiding each other may not be possible, but is that something that either one of them really wants? Maybe this is the second chance Tyler was secretly hoping for--the chance to explain, make amends, and heal both their hearts.

Ah, to be young and in love... I felt for Annie and Tyler, especially because it felt as if there was a lot stacked against them. However, a lot has changed in the time that they've been apart, and I appreciated seeing how their perspectives have shifted and matured during that period of separation. There are also some notable new supporting characters that are introduced in this second book, a couple or so that have piqued my curiosity. As far as dear ol' dad, aka Jax Jamison, is concerned, well, I got where he was coming from, but fingers crossed that everyone resolves their differences in book three. That cliffhanger? Evil! Gah! 4.5 stars for A Love Song for Rebels. ♥
