Review: Missy's Wish by Katy Paige (The Lindstroms #1.5)

Missy's Paige is a holiday novella in the Lindstroms series from Katy Paige, which is one of the pen names of bestselling author Katy Regnery. Neither of the main characters here belong to the Lindstrom clan, but it's definitely one heck of a really good read. If you've already read Paige's Proxy Bride, then you may remember Missy Branson, a local waitress who made her presence known to Sam Kelley, much to the displeasure of Jenny Lindstrom. Missy has a reputation and it's earned her the moniker of "Easy Missy". Quite a few of the townsfolk of Gardiner, Montana see her as nothing more than a buxom beauty who sleeps around, but her co-worker sees beyond the gossip. Lucas Flynn has been working as a short-order cook since being paroled four months ago, and working with Missy has allowed him to see a side of her that others don't. He doesn't like that she looks down on herself, but maybe Lucas--along with a heartfelt holiday wish--can convince Missy she's more than her reputation.

This was a quick read, as was the speed in which Lucas and Missy's relationship developed from nothing more than co-workers to friends to more. I recalled how Missy was towards Sam in the previous book and how Jenny looked down on her because of her reputation. Now, was Missy someone who had been with quite a few men in her life? Yes, but shaming her for it was obviously a bad habit a lot of the adults in Gardiner needed to rid themselves of. It smacked of the whole holier-than-thou thing. Also, Missy was far more naive than you'd think, only seeking some human connection and being used for sex by men and then shamed by everyone else. The world needs more people like Lucas! I really liked him and he was exactly who Missy needed in her life. Now, I know that they've technically been around each other for four months, everything that happens in Missy's Wish was in warp speed. It was a tad too quick, but I guess the heart wants what it wants and I adored these two. Four stars for Missy's Wish. ♥
