Review: Holiday Fling by Crystal Lacy

Holiday Fling is a new novella from Crystal Lacy, and as the title clues you in, it's about two people who have a fling over the holidays. Jake is a chef and restaurateur from Seattle and Bennett is a lawyer from Bellingham meet on a flight en route from Washington to Hawaii. Jake is planning to spend about a couple or so weeks trying out new places to eat while re-acquainting himself with the sights and sounds of the islands. On the other hand, Bennett had plans of proposing to his longtime girlfriend--plans that went out the window the moment she broke up with him. The two men share drinks while on the flight and get chummy...and then flirty. Could an almost-kiss between end up as a chance for a hot holiday fling while in Hawaii? What happens when it feels like the promise of more?

This was a really good holiday romance novella that left me with a satisfied smile on my face. This was a case of insta-love because it's not as if Jake and Bennett fall in love within twenty-four hours of meeting or feel as if they've met the person that's meant to be theirs from the get-go. There really is an honest-to-goodness development in terms of their relationship, and remember, they were together for several days, not just one or two. If there was anything instantaneous then it would have to be the more lustful aspect of their connection, since this is what becomes the springboard to them spending more time together. I loved how the story also went past their time in Hawaii, with just enough time post-fling and back in Washington for readers to see that their feelings went deeper than they may have intended. Holiday Fling was more than I had hoped it would be. 4.5 stars. ♥
