Review: Soul Corrupted by Lisa Gail Green (Of Demons and Angels #2)

They may have their wings but it doesn't immediately equate to freedom. No one ever said that afterlife in Heaven was going to be easy and Josh and Grace are quickly realizing it. Grace's attention is constantly on the family she left behind and the effect her death has on her parents and her brother Noah. She watches over them but she is forbidden to be involved in their lives. Her worry and desperation fuel Josh to take matters into his own hands and makes a deal with his former boss--Lucifer himself. With Keira inserting herself in the life of Noah and Josh and Grace's relationship, things become complicated. With Josh and Grace's faith in each other and in the powers that be tested, the potential for failure is greater than ever.

Soul Corrupted is the second book in the Of Demons and Angels series from author Lisa Gail Green and is a direct sequel to Soul Crossed. This story takes place soon after the events in the first book and has Josh and Grace trying to keep an eye out for potential Antichrists. But Grace is distracted, especially when it comes to Noah, her younger brother, whose life is spiraling out of control. Here, Josh and Grace's relationship is tested time and again and it's clear that Heaven is not free of trials. It's interesting to note the changes in both Josh and Grace now that they're together in Heaven, but it's the things that remain the same that give you pause and make you realize that these angels are not immune to feelings of despair.

I'm pretty sure that Mr. Griffith and all the other archangels and higher-ups in Heaven are more than aware of what Josh and Grace are going through but they allow these things to happen because, just like in real life, everything that happens has a purpose. Even when bound by rules and commandments, these angels have free will and have rewards and consequences. I believe there's a higher purpose as to what's happening with Josh and Grace and that they're ultimately being used as instruments for that said purpose. Of course, I'm merely formulating my own theory here, but I'm always one for twists and surprises when the next book rolls in, one that I look forward to reading. Soul Corrupted gets four stars. ♥
