Review: Small Town Secrets by Roxanne Snopek (Secrets of Cherry Lake #1)
Nathan Jackson and Pansy Oppenheimer may be in their sixties but they certainly remember what it's like to be teenagers. As they keep watch over the graduating seniors of the local high school, Nate and Pansy look back on how their own lives were like over fifty years ago. Hearts were joined together only to be left broken by decisions made by others and choices they themselves made, leading to a secret they both keep.
Small Town Secrets by bestselling author Roxanne Snopek is the prequel novella in the multi-authored contemporary romance Secrets of Cherry Lake series. This may have been a really quick read but it never scrimped in terms of story or character development, giving readers a tale of a love that was true but one that was simply not meant to be for that time. It's a bittersweet love story but one that is always hopeful.
This was a great introduction to the series, giving readers a preview of who may be paired up with whom, even if it is set nine years, minus the flashbacks, before the rest of the stories take place. There are supposed to be four stories to follow but with a larger number of interesting, potential main characters, I'm curious and excited to see whose stories get told. I'm giving Small Town Secrets five out of five stars. ♥
