Review: Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre

Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was not a rebound, this was not infatuation, this was the end of his life as he knew it, and the realization hit that even if she didn't want him, he would never ever find another woman like her, he would never ever get over her.

Quincy, Georgia is about to be invaded by the lights and sounds of a film crew and a cast headed by Hollywood superstar Cole Masten. All Summer Jenkins wanted to do was earn enough money by helping out the location scout, but when Cole's first encounter with her results in an offer for her to become the female lead in the movie, Summer's in for an unforgettable experience. With both of them torn between tearing each other a new one and tearing off each other's clothes, Cole and Summer aren't sure what exactly to call their intense non-relationship. The one thing they know for sure is that no one's ever made them feel what they've been feeling ever since they met. The question is: what do they actually do about it?

Put together an insanely good looking, wealthy, and successful actor from Los Angeles, California and a Southern belle with a sweet but snarky demeanor and a spine of steel  from Quincy, Georgia and you've got yourself a uniquely hilarious but equally endearing love story with a Hollywood ending with a Southern twist. Hollywood Dirt is my first ever Alessandra Torre read and after having read and fallen in love with the story and its main characters, I can't help but be embarrassed that I have yet to read her past work. But, what I am grateful for is having the opportunity to read and review this wonderfully written gem of a book, one that I put on my list of favorite and top reads for the year and am recommending to all.

Cole Masten isn't the usual humble actor hiding out in a little town to get away from the paparazzi. No, he's in Quincy, Georgia to not only get a head start on a film he's both producing and starring in, but to also be on his best behavior while his lawyer handles Cole's divorce from his cheating wife. He's arrogant and used to having people kiss his ass, but Summer Jenkins doesn't fall for his charm or the smile that's been known to make women swoon. There's a heck of a lot of bickering between the two, no thanks to all the button pushing that they like to engage in, but the tension isn't limited to the honest-to-goodness dislike they feel for each other. Nope, the tension includes the sexual kind, and these two have it in spades.

Their respective viewpoints of everything that happens in their lives before they met and how much more color and light they brought along with them and gave each other afterward. While Cole and Summer may not seem like they have much in common, there's more than one thread that does connect them and it's that connection, one that simmers in the beginning and progressively sizzles in the book, that I loved. Can you be attracted to someone that you don't particularly like? Yes, you can, and that's what makes their situation even funnier. There's an actual evolution in their relationship and reading all about it is what makes this witty and awesome book a true winner. Alessandra Torre's Hollywood Dirt gets five-plus stars. ♥
