Review: Bumbled Love by Lila Rose (Clumsy Love #2)

It may have been more than a two-and-a-half-year-long wait, but we finally have the second book in the Clumsy Love series, and Lila Rose made the wait worthwhile. Bumbled Love is the story of Brooke Baker and Dustin Grant, best friend to Reagan Wild and teammate and one of the closest friends of Carter Anthony, respectively. Reagan and Carter's story plays out in the series starter, Fumbled Love. Both books do overlap, and I'm happily recommending that you read them in order because they're fantastic rom-coms.

What do you do when a hot professional football player asks you for help with a charity dinner he needs to attend? Why, offer yourself up as tribute, erm, offer your help, of course! Can anyone really blame guidance counselor Brooke Baker for assuming that she would be his date? Well, it turns out that Dustin Grant is a single dad and the help he needed was for someone to babysit his six-year-old son, Benjie. It was an embarrassing moment, but one that taught Brooke a valuable lesson. Dustin isn't the least bit interested in her, and she's accepted that. She's moving on and relishes whatever time she has watching Benjie. So what happens when Dustin finally does start showing interest in her?

Can I just say that I'm glad I read this in the privacy of my home? I lost count of the number of times I snort-laughed, and that isn't necessarily the pretty of sounds. Sure, my best friend and fur babies were all within hearing distance, but they're more than familiar with that particular level of laughter from me so it was all good. I mean, how could I not laugh while reading all about Brooke and Dustin?! These two were hilarious, and they gave Reagan and Carter a run for their money. Bumbled Love was romantic comedy gold. It gets 4.5 stars, and I really hope a book for North and Jack is in the offing!

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
