Review: Mama's Boy by Avery Flynn (Last Man Standing #1)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by Entangled Publishing.

A romantic comedy from Avery Flynn never fails to hit the spot. Her newest one also happens to be the first in her new series, Last Man Standing, which is about a set of cousins aiming to be, you guessed it, the last one standing in order to lay claim to the last Christmas gift their beloved grandmother left them before she passed. Naturally, they come up with a way to wheedle out the weakest ones by way of each of them coming up with dating profiles. They need to go on six dates and NOT fall in love. Easy-peasy since none of them are interested in settling down. At all.

The series starter, Mama's Boy, features Dixon Beckett, and the guy no longer believes in love and happily-ever-afters. So, this whole thing with his cousins should be no problem. He has no intention of falling in love. Of course, that was before he met Fiona Hartigan. Yep, THOSE Hartigans. These two were complicated from the get-go, particularly because of what motivated Fiona to choose Dixon on that dating app. There's a lot of lighthearted moments throughout the book, but there's also a pinch of angst, which I'm certainly not complaining about. Avery Flynn has gotten her Last Man Standing series off to a good start, which is why it gets four stars. I cannot wait to read the next book!
