Review: A Royal Mistake by Piper Rayne (The Rooftop Crew #2)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the authors via Wildfire Marketing Solutions.

A Royal Mistake is the second novel in Piper Rayne's The Rooftop Crew series, and if you were able to read the first book, then you know who this one is about. If you're either new to the series or to the awesome writing duo that is Piper Rayne, then allow me to introduce you to the main characters of this royal romance: Sierra Sanders and Prince Adrian Marx. Sierra has been keeping her eye on a certain guy for years, but he isn't your regular Joe. Nope, the object of her affections is none other than a royal prince, and she's been keeping tabs on him, thanks to the paparazzi and gossips. When the opportunity to win a date with Adrian pops up, all that stock knowledge pays off. She may have started off with a date, but now, she finds herself with a new roommate. Having a royal heir in her spare bedroom shouldn't be too difficult. Close quarters allows Sierra to get to know the Adrian behind the royal title, and soon, the two are falling for each other. What happens when Sierra finds out Adrian's already engaged?

Okay, confession time: I was NOT a fan of Sierra's in the first book. She wasn't evil, but goodness, she made it REALLY difficult to like her. So, when I learned that she would be getting her story in the second book, I was wary. Piper and Rayne had their work cut out for them because I'm sure I wasn't the only one who didn't like Sierra. However, I had faith that if anyone could turn things around, it would be these two. After all, I can think of at least a couple of other characters from some of their past series who didn't exactly leave me with warm and fuzzy feelings when I first met them but then I warmed up to them when they had their own books. So, yes, it took some time for me to warm up to Sierra, but warm up I did, and that was due, in large part, to her coming out of her shell with Adrian. The whole royal-heir-not-wanting-to-rule aspect was done well, and pretty much made the ending an unsurprising one. A Royal Mistake gets four stars, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in book three! ♥
