Review: Sweet Time by Nina Lane (Sugar Rush #4)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet Time is the fourth book in the Sugar Rush series penned by author Nina Lane. This latest release is the shortest one in terms of length, and it's also the first one that doesn't feature any of the Stone siblings as a main character. It also isn't centered on the goings-on within the walls of Sugar Rush Candy Company, the famous company known for its sweet treats owned by the Family Stone, though Knight Security is tied in to Sugar Rush by providing their services to the family and the company. This new story features Mia Donovan, best friend to Polly Lockhart, and Gavin Knight, best friend to Luke Stone. I can't recall if their ages were mentioned in the story (yeah, it's a quirk of mine to know how old the characters in the book I'm reading are), but I'm guessing they're most probably the same age as Polly and Luke, respectively. Mia and Gavin were supporting characters in the series starter, Sweet Dreams, and Mia's year-long crush on Gavin was revisited in the previous novel, Sweet Surrender. What Mia doesn't know is that Gavin knows about her crush and the attraction isn't as one-sided as she thinks it is.

Gavin is the epitome of order and control while Mia is all about being fun and flirty. The combination of these two and their finally coming together proved to be an entertaining read. She's the light to his dark, so they do end up balancing each other out. She's tried every single thing she could think of to get his attention, but the thing is, she already had his attention from the get-go. This really was about Gavin's willingness to let go and allow himself the opportunity to be with someone like Mia. Of course, just when she's given up all hope, they're thrown together by certain circumstances regarding the upcoming wedding of their best friends. What follows is a story that's about finding love and believing that we're worthy of it and of the person we've fallen for. Nina Lane has never failed to sate my need for romance--both involving heart and heat--and she does it so well. Once again, she's given her readers Gavin and Mia, two characters that you become attached to and find yourself hoping that they'll find their way to a happy ending sooner rather than later. Sweet Time is, indeed, sweet and saucy and five-starred good time. ♥
