Review: There with You by Samantha Young (Adair Family #2)

Samantha Young returns with the second novel in her Adair Family series, and this one definitely had me a wee bit anxious. After all, Regan Penhaligon wasn't exactly giving me warm and fuzzy feels in the series starter, Here with Me, but I'm also someone who happens to love well-written redemption stories, and if any author can do it well, it would be Young. This also happens to be a single parent romance, which I've made no secret of being rather mad about, which is why it's one of my totally favorite go-to romance tropes.

When Regan Penhaligon needed a destination to run towards, it had to be the Scottish Highlands, specifically, Ardnoch Estate. Trying to make amends and reconcile with her sister, Robyn, was part of her reason for being there, but she knew she staying would require her to find a job. Being hired by Robyn's soon-to-be brother-in-law, Thane Adair, as his children's nanny and a housekeeper definitely helps. She adores her wards, and her feelings for her employer grow deeper by the day. Thane is wary and trusting her isn't easy, but he's undeniably drawn to Regan. Could there be any hope of something more between them, and could the other reason Regan is in Ardnoch destroy that hope?

I didn't think it was possible, but Regan won me over. I had my doubts, but she absolutely redeemed herself in this book. There was far more to her than what readers saw in her sister's story, and I relished the opportunity to get to know her better and for her to find her own bit of happiness, which is how I felt about Thane as well. I swear, these two were the match-up I didn't know I was hoping for! The family they created with Thane's kids was simply precious. Alongside the romance was a touch of suspense, and it was like the proverbial cherry on top of a sundae. There with You receives five stars out of five stars.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
