Review: Hope on the Rocks by Annabeth Albert (Rainbow Cove #3)

I loved this return to the town of Rainbow Cove, Oregon, and Annabeth Albert's take on the Daddy kink was one I quite enjoyed. Hope on the Rocks is the third full-length novel but fourth overall release in the Rainbow Cove series, and features Quinn Strauss, a thirty-five-year-old emergency room doctor, and Adam Ringer, a thirty-year-old bartender and co-owner of the Rainbow Tavern. When Adam notices Quinn drowning his sorrows after inadvertently seeing a reminder of his past, he decides to keep an eye on him. Something about the usually unassuming doctor called to his protective side, but when Quinn confesses his kink, it stirs up something a whole lot hotter in Adam. Neither one is looking for a long-term relationship, so agreeing to a fling for the summer sounds good. Will growing feelings, packed schedules, and too many responsibilities spoil it all?

This book was a reminder of everything I've missed about this small town that Annabeth Albert has created. After all, it's been more than three and a half years since I'd last "visited", and I'd had no clue that there was a novella that had been released a couple of years ago. So, having the chance to return to Albert's fictional coastal town in Oregon was something I jumped on, and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed Quinn and Adam's story, one which had a lighthearted feel to it with just enough angst to keep me satisfied. I've read my fair share of M/M romances that take on Daddy kink, so with the author having Adam, who is younger by five years, be the Daddy was a nice twist, albeit I have read a couple of books that have featured this particular reverse dynamic. With a bit of family drama on Adam's end, Hope on the Rocks was a highly enjoyable and heartwarming read. It gets 4.5 stars.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
