Review: Winning with Him by Lauren Blakely (Men of Summer #2)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

He is all my desires.
And maybe, just maybe, I'm still his, I think as he yanks me against him, letting me feel what I do to him. The same damn thing he does to me.
Everything.

After reading Scoring with Him, the sequel immediately shot to the top of my to-be-read list, and thank goodness for a slightly shorter wait in between because Lauren Blakely left fans and readers hanging with that doozy of a cliffhanger ending. The story continues with the second full-length novel, Winning with Him, and after a quick look back on what led to the end in the first book, this time around from Grant Blackwood's point-of-view, it picks up where Blakely left things previously. This is the point where I tell you that I may mention something here that could turn out to be spoilery, so consider yourself warned.

Grant Blackwood made the mistake of falling for Declan Steele during spring training, and while the heartbreak that followed Declan's about-face when it came to their relationship, maybe this is how it should be. Grant needs to keep his head in the game--the game he loves and has been nothing but good to him. So, why is it that each time Declan reaches out, Grant's heart can't help but hope--hope for something more, something to change. What will it mean for his baseball career if Grant chooses Declan?

Smitten! Irrevocably and undoubtedly smitten, I tell you! I've adored quite a few of Lauren Blakely's couples over the years, but there's something about Grant and Declan that just calls to me. I mean, how much more emotionally invested could I be with these two?! They frustrated me at times, particularly when it came to certain choices they made that I disagreed with. But that's the thing--I understood why they felt the decisions they made were what were best for those moments. There's the reminder that some things--even love--take time, but when it's meant to be, it finds a way. With Winning with Him, everyone comes out a winner--Grant and Declan, Blakely, and the readers. Five-plus stars.
