I live for Dahlia Donovan's cozy mysteries! She takes us back to London with the second novel in her London Podcast Mystery featuring established couple and podcasters Osian Garey and Dannel Ortea. Ghost Light Killer find Oz and Dannel accepting an invitation from their fabulous septuagenarian neighbor, Ian Barrett, to investigate a supposed haunting at the Evelyn Lavelle theater, which is where Ian is directing a play. Instead of finding a ghost, however, Oz and Dannel discover the show's costume designer dead--and her son, who just happens to be their friend Archie Dennis--kneeling over her body. Hoping to prove Archie innocent, Oz and Dannel investigate, but soon, the body count ticks up...and up. Can they solve this latest whodunit before these two join the victim list?
One of my favorite things about Dahlia Donovan's books is how diverse her characters are. I appreciate that Osian and Dannel aren't your run-of-the-mill main characters, and that they work as a couple not in spite of their differences, but because of their differences. They're super supportive of each other, and they work well together when they do their sleuthing. As far as the mystery in this second London Podcast Mystery book, the author kept me on my toes as I tried to figure out who was behind the murders. I love it when that happens because a well-thought out mystery that keeps a reader guessing is part of the appeal of Donovan's writing. Ghost Light Killer met all my lofty expectations, which is why it gets 4.5 stars. I can't wait to read more from this series.
