Review: When Shadows Fracture by Callie Rae (Cherry Creek #2)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Callie Rae rewards readers of her debut release, What Shadows Follow, with a sequel that meets expectations in the second Cherry Creek novle, When Shadows Fracture. A quick note before you proceed reading this review: Because the books in this series must be read in order, there may be details mentioned here that could prove to be spoiler-like should you be new to the trilogy. These books cover a continuing story line with the same cast of characters, so they are not standalones you can jump into.

This second book picks up where the first book left off, with Fallon Blake being taken and Jesse Callaway realizing he would do anything and everything just to get her back. The quest to find Fallon is a daunting one, but Jesse can go it alone? After all, who can he trust, especially when it concerns the person who has come to mean the most to him? Fallon is a fighter, but even as she refuses to give in to the sick wants of her abductor, will she be able to hang on long enough for Jesse to actually get to her?

If book one left me eager for book two, well, now I find myself undeniably desperate for book three, which is the final one in the Cherry Creek trilogy. The fact that the series starter was Callie Rae's debut filled me wonder, and now, this second one has proven that she isn't a one-hit wonder. Fallon and Jesse's continuing story had me on the edge of my seat, and yes, this does end in a cliffhanger AND I'm trying to keep my review as vague as possible. JUST GO READ WHEN SHADOWS FRACTURE! Five stars.
