Review: Rough Ride by Kristen Ashley (Chaos #4.5)

Note: This ARC was provided by the publisher via InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review.

"I fell for you when you were Shy's and if you think that now, when you need me most, now, when I finally, fuckin' finally got a clear shot, I'm givin' up, think again, Rosie. You're hurt and you're pissed and I get that. But I'm not givin' you up. I don't care what way I gotta take you, as mine or just havin' you in my life in a way you'd let me be there, but however that is, I'm not givin' up. Not ever, Rosalie. I'm not givin' you up. You're gonna be in my life and I'm gonna be in yours. Bank on it."

It's been about two and a half years since I last experienced Chaos. Nope, that's not a typo. Chaos in that sentence and throughout this review is meant to begin with a capital letter because when it comes to motorcycle club romances, no MC is as unforgettable nor as addictive as Kristen Ashley's men from a li'l ol' club known as Chaos. And fancy that, Chaos also happens to be the title of her MC romance series which just happens to be my favorite series of Ashley's (and that's a feat since I love all the Ashley-penned series and standalones that I've read so far!).

But see, it's been a couple of years since the Chaos guys and their gals graced my reading periphery, so you can imagine my excitement when I learned the author didn't merely have a novella set for publication but that there are a couple of full-length novels that are slated for release this year as well! But let's focus our attention on the here and now, and the here and now is all about Everett Kavanagh (aka Snapper) and Rosalie Holloway (aka Rosie). She's always belonged to someone else, but the time has finally come for him to snap her up and claim her heart.

Rough Ride is the perfect title for Snapper and Rosie's story not only because she was with another Chaos member when they first met and then became the old lady of another of a member of a rival MC, but because from the moment this novella opens to the harrowing experience Rosie endures and survives, smooth sailing was a long time coming for them. But that's what I love about their story! They had to want to be together and to be better and to fight for the love that was already there but neither one was prepared to openly and publicly acknowledge.

I'm refusing to give actual details about this novella other than if you're familiar with the Chaos books, then all the Chaos-style romance, sex, and action is ever-present in this gem of a read and does the series as a whole proud. And here's another nugget to ponder on: the epilogue AND the sneak peek at Hound's story left me gobsmacked. Think mouth hanging open for a good five minutes or so. Kristen Ashley is evil. An evil genius, mind you, since now I'm excitedly awaiting the next book's release, but evil nonetheless. Prepare for one five-plus-starred Rough Ride! ♥
