Review: On Thin Ice by Piper Rayne (Bedroom Games #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by the authors via Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.

The Bedroom Games continue with the second book in the series, On Thin Ice. This time around, the writing duo of Piper Rayne gives readers the enemies-to-lovers story of Dax "Soups" Campbell and Demi Harrison. The two had a thing going during the last Winter Classics, but while Dax thought that it was purely casual, Demi had thought something else. When the sports event comes to a close, so does whatever it was they were engaged in, leaving Demi brokenhearted and Dax clueless as to how much pain he'd caused. Fast forward for years later and the Winter Classics are up once again. The one-time lovers may belong to the same circle of friends, but Demi still looks at Dax like a walking venereal disease. However, when Dax does the chivalrous thing and rescues her from an ex parading his latest conquest, Demi decides to reward him with a hookup. When Dax's practice run the next day turns out to be his best of the season so far, he wonders if being with Demi was the game changer. She's his lucky charm but with their history, can he charm his way into her heart?

I quite liked this second Bedroom Games book, although there were a couple of similarities to the first book. Just like Mia Salter and Grady Kale before them, there was no love lost between Dax and Demi. Also, Dax didn't hate Demi but Demi had issues with Dax, as was the case with Grady and Mia. Here though, it was more of a sexual history that they had to deal. I wasn't a fan of Dax's in the first book, but at least he wasn't as off-putting as a couple of the other guys who portray that particular part in Piper Rayne's series (you know, the one who doesn't seem to have a filter?). There's a family element in this book--Dax's mother thinks of him as a 24/7 ATM while Demi's got herself a helicopter mother--and it didn't feel completely fully resolved on either side. The sex is hot between the two and the romance peppered with lighthearted and comedic moments between the two, especially the ones while singing karaoke. I loved the parts of the book where it was clear that the friendship among all three couples is strong. Four stars for On Thin Ice, and I can't wait to read the third novel! ♥
