Audiobook Review: Gideon by Lily Morton, narrated by Joel Leslie (Finding Home #3)

Ah, how I loved revisiting this third and final book in the Finding Home trilogy, only this time around in audio form, and if it's one thing I've learned from experience, the combination of Lily Morton's writing and Joel Leslie's narration is the stuff aural dreams are made of. Gideon is the story of thirty-nine-year-old actor Gideon Ramsay and twenty-seven-year-old nurse Eli Jones. Gideon's good looks and acting talent may be what he's initially noticed for, but his hedonistic lifestyle has finally taken its toll, Diagnosed with pneumonia and ordered to take it easy and rest, Gid's going to require one heck of a nurse to make sure he behaves himself, and lucky for him, Eli isn't the type to shirk from a challenge. Soon, the two find themselves mutually drawn to each other, but nothing could ever come of it, not with the twelve-year age difference, Eli being under Gid's employ, or the fact that Gid's sexuality was a secret.

There's just something about listening to the audiobook edition of a story that I fell in love with when I read it. Gid and Eli's story of two strangers who find common ground and become the unlikeliest of friends and then go on to fall in love has that wonderful mixture of heart and heat and all that wonderful humor that Lily Morton is known for. Or maybe it's more apt to call her stories snarky, sweet, and sexy. Then you bring in a narrator like Joel Leslie, and everything is taken up several notches of awesomeness. Leslie, unsurprisingly, is fabulous, bringing to life this cast of characters and doing justice to Morton's fantastic writing. I highly recommend Gideon to M/M romance listeners. I'm handing this audiobook favorite five-plus stars.
