Review: Last on the List by Amy Daws (Wait with Me #5)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Fair warning: This book is a scorcher, so may I suggest that any and all potential readers peruse this in a room with air conditioning. Last on the List is exactly that--the last on the list of books in the Wait with Me series, and it looks like Amy Daws saved what I think is her hottest read for last. While this book does feature cameo appearances from the coupled-up characters of Daws's Boulder Crew, it can be enjoyed as a standalone. But hey, why do that when you can read the first four books--Wait with Me (Kate Smith and Miles Hudson), Next in Line (Maggie Hudson and Sam O'Connor), One Moment Please (Lynsey Jones and Josh Richardson), and Take a Number (Norah Donahue and Dean Moser)--and enjoy the heck out a few romantic comedies that really did tickle my not-so-fancy fancy.

Last on the List is Cassandra Barlow and Max Fletcher's story. She's twenty-six, tries to live up to her preferred nickname, Cozy, and has a personal philosophy that basically asks why one should do more when they can do less? On the other hand, he's thirty-four, a self-made millionaire and CEO, and most importantly, father to an eleven-year-old daughter, Everly. With Max having Everly stay with him for the summer while his ex-wife is overseas for work, he knows they're going to need a live-in nanny. He has expectations, but Cozy was the very epitome of unexpected. With Everly's stamp of approval, however, Max is going to have to keep an eye on the new nanny. Her approach may be all willy-nilly, but may things possibly turn lovey-dovey if Max gets Cozy (wink) over the summer?

Eyes on me, I mean, eyes on this book, fellow romance readers! Amy Daws delivers a fun-filled and quirky romance between a nanny and her ward's father. Cozy certainly left one heck of an unforgettable first impression, but Max's naughtier side definitely took me by surprise but in the best way possible. I loved these two together, and the fact that their back stories were rather heartrending made it so much easier to understand how they became the people that readers are introduced to. I also adored seeing Everly's relationship with Max and the kinship she developed with Cozy. Kudos to bringing the Boulder gang together for one last hurrah. Dare I hope that Max's brothers get their own spin-off sometime in the future? Fingers crossed! I'm awarding Last on the List five stars!
