Review: Infernium by Keri Lake (Nightshade #2)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.

Infernium is the highly anticipated sequel to Keri Lake's Nightshade, which was on quite a few year-end best books lists in 2021, mine included. The books in this duet MUST be read in order--Nightshade prior to Infernium--because this is the continuing story of Farryn Ravenshaw and Jericho Van Croix. Might I suggest that you read the conclusion to Farryn and Jericho's duology over the weekend because this is a really lengthy novel, so you're going to want to invest a fair bit of time in order to see how it all wraps up for these two.

Suffice it to say that my expectations were extremely lofty for this book given how much I was into the one that came before it. This new book is told from at least four perspectives, although mostly fro Jericho's and Farryn's. There are also quite a few triggers that can be found on Keri Lake's website--or feel free to click here for a direct link to the list--so consider yourself warned. This was a dark read--darker than even its predecessor--yet  there is light at the end, giving Jericho and Farryn their much-deserved ending. Lake's gift for imagery and development, both in terms of story and character, had me spellbound from start to finish. This author truly has a way with words. Infernium receives 4.5 stars.
