Review: Make Me Fall by Sara Rider (Books & Brews #2)

From strangers to neighbors to enemies to friends...and then to lovers? Sara Rider serves up the second novel in her Books & Brews series with two people who are polar opposites of each other trying to figure out if you can still be friends with the person you're falling in love with. Make Me Fall is the story of Nora Pitts, a divorcee who said goodbye to more than her cheater of an ex-husband; she now has no job, no home, nor any friends to speak of. Moving to Shadow Creek, Washington is her chance to start over, but that's easier said than done, especially since she's in her thirties. The fact that she doesn't like her new neighbor isn't helping matters either. Eli Hardin is someone who gets on her nerves. Who cares if the guy's gorgeous? Nora can't stand him, and the feeling is quite mutual, thank you very much. But then Eli takes her out on a date after hearing the unflattering way Nora's new friends made fun of her, and from then on, the guy is totally smitten by her. The last thing Nora wants is to fall for the one person who's turned out to be the best friend a woman could ask for...but maybe that's what Nora needs.

Sara Rider definitely took things up a notch with book two in her series, and I absolutely loved Nora and Eli together. These two had the whole back and forth, bickering and bantering going on, and it honestly felt like a whole lot like foreplay. I more than empathized with Nora, especially when it came to her being comfortable enough with other people and becoming friends with them. You never know who to trust these days, and the older you are, the more difficult it can be to create a safe circle composed of people that you know won't judge you. I think my favorite thing about the book--aside from the romance, of course--had to be Nora's journey in re-establishing a new place for herself in the world. She was so unsure in the beginning, but I loved how slowly but surely, she found herself. And Eli? Well, the guy was just too easy to fall for (just ask Nora!), and he and Nora simply fit together. This can be read as a standalone, but I hope that you'll read the first book, Real Kind of Love, as well since it introduces readers to the Shadow Creek and its great cast of characters. I'm giving Make Me Fall 4.5 stars. ♥
