Review: Bet On It by Jaclyn Quinn

One of my favorite author discoveries of 2018 was Jaclyn Quinn, with each of her first four published novels ticking of my must-haves on my romance read checklist plus her Haven's Cove series landing on my list of top series for last year. She starts the new year off with a friends-to-lovers novella entitled Bet On It. This story pushes Quinn in a different direction of sorts given the healthy dose of light BDSM feel this has.

Tyler and Spencer have been the best of friends and roommates for years, and they have no secrets between them--or so Ty thought. When he accidentally catches a glimpse of Spence's kinky side, Ty's curiosity gets the better of him, leading the two of them to a "no limits" bet--and it's a bet Ty loses. For the next three weeks, Ty is Spence's servant, and while he may want his best friend to push his sexual boundaries, how far are these two willing to go without permanently altering their years-long friendship?

I'll be honest: it took me some time to warm up to Spencer because it felt like he was taking the whole platonic to sexual transition very lightly. It wasn't until I'd say the last quarter of the book that it all finally made sense to me and everything clicked into place. I saw Spencer and his actions in a whole new light, and while I won't give away any details, I appreciated that this was a drama-free read with just a hint of angst to it (because I'm always going to need my dose of angst!). Jaclyn Quinn's writing was notably good yet again, with a well-paced novella that still packs a romantic punch. Place your bet on Bet On It. 4.5 stars! ♥
