Review: Loving Logan by Sammi Cee (Writing Our Love #4)

I can't believe it's taken me this long to read something written by Sammi Cee. To be fair, I have read some of her co-written stuff with Michele Notaro, so it's not like I'm not familiar with her or her stories, but when it comes to her solo work, Loving Logan was my official introduction, and I adored everything about it! This novella is the fourth in Cee's Writing Our Love series--which means I've got three previous books to add to my to-be-read list--and it's got a thirty-one-year-old single guardian to a two-year-old nephew who doesn't think true love is in the cards until he meets a persistent twenty-something insisting they're meant to be friends...and maybe more.

Logan's life revolves around his nephew, Jakey, with the rest of his time spent at work as a bartender, leaving little else for a personal life. His mother nags him about it, but inasmuch as Logan wouldn't mind having someone to share his life with, he wouldn't give Jakey up for anyone or anything. So when Creed comes along, Logan can't quite reconcile this gorgeous guy being interested in spending time with him. After all, Creed is straight. Maybe being friends is a good thing, but the closer they become, the more the temptation to cross the line between friendship and more grows. Will Logan learn to believe that he's someone worth loving and that Creed truly is all in?

This book was such a feel-good, lighthearted read, one that made my heart feel full and brought a smile to my face. There isn't a whole lot of angst, and that was perfectly okay because I don't need huge amounts of it in every single book I read. Both Logan and Creed were main characters that were absurdly easy to like and then fall in love with. They were good men with good hearts and the development of their relationship from virtual strangers to unlikely friends and then to hopeful lovers was made even more swoon-worthy because of the family unit they had created with little Jakey. Loving Logan was the perfect pick-me-up I so needed this week. 4.5 stars.
