Review: Dirty Groom by Mira Lyn Kelly (Slayers Hockey #6)

If you're a longtime reader of Mira Lyn Kelly's or if you were able to read Dirty Christmas, whether in the multi-authored Scoring Over the Holidays anthology from December 2021 or as a recently released novella, then you may recall Stormy Hendricks and Liam Diesel. These two were the reason why the main characters in the novella, Misty Hendricks and Noel Nichols, ended up stuck with each other. Now, while Misty and Noel got their happy-for-now in that story, I desperately wanted to find out what tale Stormy and Liam had to tell. Now, the time has finally come, and goodness, they gave us something to talk about!

It sounds simple enough: girl meets boy, they agree to marry, the end. Oh, insert going their separate ways and forgetting anything happened before "the end". But a year since that all went down, Liam Diesel realizes that everything is actually pretty complicated. So, he goes looking for his wife, Jane Jones--except her name is actually Stormy Hendricks. The best thing to do now is to get divorced, but just like the year before, nothing is ever that simple, especially not for this hockey player and his runaway bride.

I swear, there's just something about this series that has me all smitten! Liam and Stormy were complicated from the get-go, but that isn't all that surprising given the fact that they were strangers who got married in Vegas and didn't see each other for a year on purpose? They both had intriguing back stories, and my heart went out to them once we learn about their issues connected to their respective families and exes. I quite enjoyed seeing them figure things out, not just when it came to their own relationship, but what they had to do in order to move forward with everything else. A quick note: I suggest reading Dirty Christmas prior to reading Dirty Groom for a more well-rounded experience. Five stars!

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
