Review: Wishes & Wings by Nina Lane (Birdsong #3)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.
Though I can envision a life without him, it's not one I would pick--if I had the choice. I will always, forever, endlessly, throughout time and across universes...choose him.
My heart. My poor, bruised and battered heart. After everything Nina Lane put it through with her Birdsong trilogy, I have two words for her: thank you. Nell Fairchild and Darius Hawke's love story consumed me. Spanning three books, Lane maintained a steady pace throughout, weaving a story that had my thoughts ensnared and my emotions entangled. There was no resisting this tale of love, family, and intrigue, and now, with the release of its conclusion, Wishes & Wings, everything comes to a head. Secrets will be uncovered and choices must be made--but at what cost to Nell and Darius?
If there is one series that I hope my fellow readers will pick up this year, it's Birdsong. If you're familiar with Nina Lane's writing, this is her at her best; if you've yet to read something of hers, I highly encourage you to read this, beginning with Sparrow & Hawke, then Feather & Flame, and Wishes & Wings. Prepare to become emotionally invested as you get swept away with Lane's words. Yes, Nell and Darius get their happily-ever-after, but it's one that they had to fight for--one that they had to believe they deserved. If I could give Wishes & Wings more than five-plus stars, I would, but I'll have to settle for that since that's as high as I can go with my rating system. Oh, who am I kidding? All the stars for this book and this series! One of 2022's best!
