Review: Emergency Delivery by Samanthe Beck (Love Emergency #2)
Note: This ARC was provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
I knew these two were going to end up getting their own story and Samanthe Beck did them justice in this sequel! Twenty-seven-year-old EMT Hunter Knox, who was a standout supporting character in the Love Emergency series starter, Emergency Engagement, and twenty-two-year-old barista Madison Foley cross paths in the unlikeliest of circumstances when Hunter serves as the attending paramedic at the roadside delivery of Madison's daughter. Hunter and Madison form a connection unlike any other but go their separate ways. Being the kind of person Hunter is, he can't help but check up on her to make sure that she and baby Joy are really okay. When he sees she needs more than his good wishes, Hunter steps in and Madison knows he's just being helpful. So, why do the three of them feel right together...just like a family?
Madison giving birth was already part of the first book, but if you have yet to get your hands on it, you can go into this one without worries since the birth is replayed here as well. From the moment Madison and Hunter meet, she offers him more trust than she's given any other person after her grandmother, trust that she's been wary to give anyone else after the way her ex-boyfriend and the father of her daughter abused that trust. I must admit that Hunter seems too good to be true, but hey, this is a romance novel and Hunter is the exact reason why bookaholics like me wish book boyfriends existed in real life. He and Madison made sense together and their relationship worked because it felt natural, almost as if fate meant for them to meet as she went into labor instead of in boring, conventional places, like a coffee shop or bar.
Of course, we get a bit of Beau Montgomery and Savannah Smith, whose own love story I adored in Emergency Engagement, and a glimpse at how far they've come in their relationship. Beau was the voice of reason this time around, and while he may seem like a party pooper to some, I felt that he was simply trying to make sure that Hunter was going into this thing with Madison with his eyes wide open and making sure he had his priorities in place, plus Beau was more than supportive when Hunter made up his mind about what he really wanted. The scene in The Daily Grind & Unwind brought a tear to my eye because it was Hunter at his most honest and vulnerable. Major le sigh moment there. So far, the Love Emergency series has met each of my expectations and Emergency Delivery was a 4.5-starred joy to read. ♥
